One commentator writes: “No one presses the margins of literary propriety as severely as Ezekiel (does in chapter 16).” It’s a shocking chapter telling the shocking story of Israel’s treatment of God couched in the shocking description of Israel as a ‘whore’. It’s a shocking chapter revealing the utterly unbelievable and amazing grace of God.

Our response to God’s word today isn’t one of ‘doing’, but ‘feeling’ – feeling the horror of sin – so that we may more fully appreciate and rejoice in the amazing grace of God.
