Wisdom in the Eye of the Storm – When Wisdom Fails

When someone is suffering and grieved, there is commonly five stages of experience during these difficult times. Denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance.

What sometimes makes the book of Job hard to understand is that he seems to walk back and forth through these five stages. In some moments he is clearly angry about his situation and the accusations put to him. In other moments he seems to be bargaining with God – if God would only appear and speak to me, or if he could just explain why I’m suffering that would be enough! Depressive words are never far from his lips. Acceptance of his fate seems to come, but then he seems to go back to anger or depression. It can be very confusing reading!

Well, hopefully, this Sunday we’ll make sense of what Job is generally saying and what he desires more than anything else.

And, hopefully, we’ll see that everything Job wants can be found in Jesus.
