They say you cannot teach an old dog new tricks. As we’ll see in this week’s passage, Jewish opposition to Stephen is ultimately opposition to Jesus, which is so typical of their long history of rejecting God’s messengers… and God himself. This time opposition will ultimately lead to something bigger: the fulfilment of Jesus’ promise that the apostles and disciples would be his witnesses beyond Jerusalem – to Judea, Samaria, and beyond.
