For those not familiar with watching sports on TV, what tends to happen during a highlight is you’ll see a number of replays of the action from up-close. Multiple angles of the same highlight giving you different perspectives on what is happening. Then the replays might take a big step back, to give you a wide angle perspective on all that happens in the lead up to that highlight moment.
Revelation 20 works like that. In recent chapters we’ve seen the highlights of the downfall of Babylon and the rejoicing of God’s people. Now the camera pulls back and we get given the big picture of all the events leading up to the end – starting from the Resurrection of Jesus all the way to the final judgement. What joy, comfort, and assurance awaits those in Christ! And what warning there is for those who have yet to bow their knees to Jesus.
