Our Mission

Pastor Steven Tran
15 April 2018

The purpose and reason for our existence is to glorify God by proclaiming the gospel to all. But what things in our lives which prevent us from doing so?

Matthew 28:18-20, Revelation 5:6-14, 7:9-12

Our Values

Pastor Steven Tran
23 April 2018

Each local body of gathered believers should have many biblical things in common, but there are also distinctives. So what are SLE Church's values - and what should we value?

2 Timothy 3:14-4:5, Colossians 4:2-4, Hebrews 5:11-6:2

Our Vision

Pastor Benjamin Ho
30 April 2018

The big question for all of us to consider and work out is this - what does God want SLE Church to become in the short and longterm? This is our vision.

Ephesians 1:3-14, Romans 15:14-25, Ecclesiastes 11:1-6

Revisited - 2021

EPISODE 1

Disciples of Jesus Christ

  • Pastor Steven Tran
  • 13 June 2021
  • Matthew 28:18-20

God seeks his honour and glory above all else, achieving that through the proclamation of the death and resurrection of his Son to believers, that they might mature into the likeness of Christ, and to unbelievers, that they might come to faith and repentance.

EPISODE 2

Valuing the Right Handling of God's Word

  • Pastor Benjamin Ho
  • 20 June 2021
  • Genesis 1:1-3; John 1:1-4; Ephesians 1:3-14; Revelation 5:9-14

We believe the Bible is God’s word and that it reveals to us His plan for salvation through His Son, Jesus Christ. We believe it is one unified story that was inspired by God and written by human authors—the Old Testament is God’s word of preparation and promise regarding Jesus Christ and the New Testament is God’s word recording and explaining the person and work of Jesus Christ. The author’s original intent and meaning should be preserved, therefore the shape and emphasis of our sermons match the shape and emphasis of the biblical text.

EPISODE 3

Valuing Prayerful Dependence

  • Pastor Benjamin Ho
  • 27 June 2021
  • Matthew 6:7-13 Ephesians 6:10-20

Prayer is the privilege of every believer to speak to our heavenly Father. We believe that God calls His people to pray in response to His Word, expressing our trust in and dependence on God’s character and His promises.

EPISODE 4

Valuing Discipleship

  • Pastor Steven Tran
  • 4 July 2021
  • Matthew 28:18-20; Ephesians 4:11-16

Every Christian is encouraged to be continuously and actively involved in discipling others, whatever your age or stage of life.

EPISODE 5

Valuing our Unity in Christ

  • Pastor Steven Tran
  • 11 July 2021
  • Ephesians 4:1-16

We believe that the saving grace of Jesus Christ has broken down all barriers among believers. Through the gospel, believers from all backgrounds are reconciled to God and with each other. We relate to each other, resolve conflicts, and make decisions in a way which reflects our oneness in Christ.

EPISODE 6

Our Vision

  • Pastor Benjamin Ho
  • 18 July 2021
  • Ephesians 4:1-16

What is a ‘Vision’? It is what we hope we will become. A vision acts as both a guide (where do we want to go) and a measure (how are we going at the moment).

This is the vision that the leaders and members of SLE Church formulated a few years ago. SLE Church seeks to be a prayerful Christ-centred community that proclaims the gospel to unbelievers and grows disciples of Jesus Christ.

This week’s sermon will unpack this vision, reflect on how we are going and how we can do better.
