Titus

3 EPISODES

“For the sake of the faith of God’s elect and their knowledge of the truth, which accords with godliness...” (Titus 1:1)

“So that those who have believed in God may be careful to devote themselves to good works. These things are excellent and profitable for people.” (3:8)

In this short letter from Paul to Titus, we see a series of instructions that Titus must adhere to if this young church is to remain faithful. Plagued by false teachers who contradict sound doctrine, Titus is to teach what accords with the truth, appoint godly elders, and exhort his church to godly living in their homes, with one another, and in their workplaces. All while avoiding any false teaching that is unprofitable, including casting aside individuals who refuse to obey sound doctrine. What is sound doctrine? It is the grace of God appearing in the form of Jesus, which trains faithful Christians to be godly.
