‘Christian Wholeness’ – BC3 Workshop

*** Please Note: this event IS NOT BEING HELD AT CCCB ***

CCCB St Lucia English belongs to network of churches known as BC3 (Brisbane Chinese Church Connection). The BC3 network currently includes Brisbane Cantonese Chinese Alliance Church (BCAC), Toowong Baptist Church (TBC), Brisbane Cantonese Christian Church (BCCC), St Marks Lutheran Church, and CCCB Coopers Plains English.

On May 12 the BC3 network will be running one of the most helpful workshops we’ve had in a long time: a look at Mental Health. One in Four Australians will suffer from mental health issues in their lifetime. Last Sunday Pastor Ben shared that he suffered from depression and can be counted in that 1/4.

The world of Christian counselling is a bit of a minefield. Various approaches have been adopted throughout the past few decades, most of which have been unhelpful in one degree or another. Having studied under Dr Jono Andrews at QTC, and having critically analysed his methodology in comparison to other “Christian Counselling” methodologies I can wholeheartedly endorse Dr Andrews as a thoughtful Christian and counsellor.

Here is the blurb for the event. I hope that many SLEers (even the women going to Bloom) can make this event.

Please again note: this event will not be held at St Lucia CCCB. But will be at BCCC – Brisbane Cantonese Christian Church in Kedron. Details below.

Mental health and mental illness are taboo topics wherever you’re from, and especially for Asians. But so many of us experience feeling low, stressed, and anxious, and you may well have friends who experience mental illness or you may have experienced it yourself.

Hear from Christian Psychologist Dr Jono Andrews as he talks to BC3ers about ‘Christian Wholeness’ – what it means for us as Christians to be mentally healthy and whole.

Christian Wholeness what it is and what it looks like.

When: Saturday May 12, 9.00 – 11.30am including morning tea
Where: Brisbane Cantonese Christian Church, 26 Tenth Ave, Kedron
Cost: Free; bring friends!
