Prayer for our brother Mario

As some may know our brother Mario Cheng has been in Japan for the past few weeks helping with Samaritan’s Purse in the rebuilding of homes affected by last year’s earthquake and tsunami. Here’s an update from Mario (my apologies for how late this has come!).

” The work here ends in april though Samaritan’s Purse is seeking a way to stay longer. There are number of logistics and legal issues they face but there is a hope of continuing the work here. The work is basically finding homes that can benefit from repair and cleaning the first floor and reinstalling floor insulation and walls. Basically to make the space livable again. Through this work Samaritan’s Purse hopes to bring a presence of God into their lives and introduce them to the local churches. The hope is to build a lasting relationship within a church community.

As this is the last couple of weeks there is a big rush to the finish so everyone is working hard despite camp sicknesses. We could do with prayer for camp health, that we can all work effectively and also for the many home owners we meet, that we can share Christ’s love despite the language barrier and proclaim the gospel in a bold manner. Lastly, that God continues to open the door for SP work out there in Tohoku.”

Let us uphold our brother in prayer while he is away, and continue to think through how we can be of support for those still going through the recovery efforts.
